2016-2017 Youth Commission Membership
Commissioners:
Appointed July, 2016 by the Placer County Board of Supervisors.

Catherine Colella - District 1
My name is Catherine Colella. I am a junior at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. I stand for innovation. Promoting innovation is the key to solving vexing social, economic and technological problems and improving the quality of life for people all around the world. Our ability to innovate unusual alternatives to major issues has proven to positively contribute to the growth and prosperity of humanity time and time again. Promoting education and creativity will turn the dreams of today into the reality of tomorrow and the innovation of the future.

Kathryn Sobczak - District 1
I chose compassion as my stance because I see the need for it all around me. I believe that this attribute will lead to more understanding and better relationships throughout the world. My life has been changed when I am the recipient of compassionate service and I strive to pay it forward in order to make a more accepting world around me.

Lauren Wroblewski - District 1
I stand for individuality. It is extremely important for people all over to discover who they are as an individual. It is the right of every person to be able to express their individuality through actions and creativity. I stand for those who do not have the safety or resources to express themselves.

Morgan Jamison - District 1
My name is Morgan Fenn Jamison, I am a senior at Roseville High School. I am the public relations officer for the youth commission and I stand for understanding. I think it is important for people to learn from each other's stories and to strive for a holistic worldview. Having an understanding and appreciation for the lives and thoughts of others is incredibly important. Being able to comprehend the struggles of others and to relate to people makes a person more compassionate and kind.

Divya Bhat - District 2
Commissioner 2016-217

Henry Low - District 2
My name is Henry Low. I am the technologies officer of the youth commission. My personal stand is creativity. Humanity's ability to innovate and think in unconventional ways has changed the course of history more than once. Our ability to think outside the box has led to revolutionary, stunning achievements in every industry from technology to literature. In addressing society's modern issues, we need to utilize this strength of ours and develop creative solutions to complex problems. By doing so, society will never stop making progress.

Jennifer Weiher - District 2
Commissioner 2016-17

Joshua Knell - District 3
My name is Josh Knell, and I am a junior at Whitney High School. This will be my first year serving on the commission. I stand for opportunity for everyone, because I believe that giving everyone the ability to better themselves is essential for success. Opportunity is not given, opportunity is something that is worked for.

Lindsey Jansen - District 3
Commissioner 2016-17

Darlene Dickinson - District 4
My name is Darlene Dickinson, and I am currently in my senior year at Del Oro High School in Loomis. I stand for creativity because new ideas are valuable to a progressing society. Whether it be through art or an innovating science, creativity will always astound me by its ability to make something out of nothing. I hope to bring this kind of magic to our county while on the Youth Commission.

Rahul Bavirisetty - District 4
Commissioner 2016-17

Shawn Wang - District 4
My name is Shawn Wang. I am a senior at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. This is my second year. I am the President of the Placer County Youth Commission. The word I stand for is self-expression. Humans are highly invested in science and technology and progress but artistic expression is an essential piece in life as well. Through art, we distinguish ourselves from everything else we have ever known. It’s cathartic; it’s challenging. Expression in art is the way by which we find what it is to be a human being.

Brendyn Ikeda - District 5
My name is Brendyn Ikeda, I am a senior at Placer High School and this is my second year on the youth commission. My word that I believe I embody is connections. As humans we must support one another by creating strong bonds with the polarizing people around us. “A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”-John Lennon

Carly Cramer - District 5
My name is Carly Cramer, and I am a junior at Colfax High School. This is my third year on the youth commission, and I serve as treasurer. I stand for equality, because I believe that unless we all have equal opportunities to better ourselves, it's very difficult for us to move forward as a society. If we work to help others as well as ourselves, we can make the world a better place.

Claire Breckenridge - District 5
My name is Claire Breckenridge, I am a junior at Placer High School, and this is my second year as a commissioner. The word I stand for is unity. Unity enables growth throughout life, love throughout life, success throughout life. Whether individuals are researching a cure for an illness or simply working together on the soccer field, unity is key.

Kristin Pischel - District 5
My name is Kristin Pischel, and I have a passion for helping people. My main goal in life is to better someone else’s. Being an active member in PCYC is a great way to do that. This is my second year on the commission, and my first year as a commissioner. I am also the secretary.
I stand for ambition. Not rapacious ambition, the kind that corrupts people and makes them power-hungry, but pure ambition, the kind that makes people start charities and travel to ridiculously remote places to do ridiculously good things. Without the motivation to help yourself and others that comes from ambition, the world would be a much darker place.

Victoria Irons- District 5
My name is Tori Irons and I'm a senior at Colfax High School. I am a commissioner for the Placer Country Youth Commission. I stand for acceptance. I believe that life is so much more beautiful when everyone is accepted for who they are and for who they want to become.17

There will be obstacles here and there, but with the right mindset things will get better. That is why I stand by optimism since no matter how difficult things get, don’t let go of that hope.

Jarod Heng
I'm Jarod Heng and I'm a Sophomore at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. I am an ambassador with the PCYC involved in anything I can do. I stand for infinity because together, we can accomplish anything. I firmly believe that the only limits are the ones that we imagine for ourselves. The sky isn't the limit; the mind is. The concept of infinity as a never-ending quantity is far-reaching and, well, infinite. Whether together or on our own, there is nothing we cannot do.
