I am a senior at Placer High School and this is my second year as a commissioner. As the multimedia producer for the commission I plan on widening our breach through our social networking. As the co-chair of the prevention subcommittee I planning on getting SHO passed in both Loomis and Colfax. I also hope to start new projects that allow us to better educate the public on the Social Host Ordinance.

Mitchell Herbert - District 1

My name is Mitchell Herbert and I stand for education. As a technology enthusiast, I know that education is vital to our success later in life. Many students require more support in the pursuit of a higher level education. Specifically, young scientists, engineers, and mathematicians are often not provided with enough opportunities to utilize and acquire new talents in both schools and the community. I hope to help bring opportunities to young technologists in Placer County.

Jenn Beardsley - District 1

My name is Jenn Beardsley and I am a senior at Core Placer! This is my second year as a Commissioner for PCYC and my first year as Secretary. My goal as a member of PCYC is to make our community better, safer, and healthier for generations to come. Educating Placer County on issues such as substance abuse prevention, homelessness, and mental health is vital to the growth and health of its population. I am studying to become a medical assistant and in the future, I hope to major in neuroscience and attend medical school.

My name is Justin Kwok. I stand for respect and compassion because it is the foundation of a civil society, a strong community, one which builds up each other instead of breaking down one another. I intend to improve the youth of Placer County through respect and compassion.

Madeline Cramer - District 5

My name is Madeline Cramer, and I am a junior at Colfax High School. This is my second year on the commission and I am excited to be back! I hope to build upon the skills I gained from the commission last year. My main goal for PCYC this year is to expand the number of youth we reach, and strengthen our overall impact on the community.

Justin Kim - District 2

My name is Justin Kim and I am a senior at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. My goals for the Placer County Youth Commission this year are to help events, such as the Youth Impact Awards and the Youth Innovation challenge, grow by reaching more people. I would also like to recruit more members for the commission by contacting more schools. Personally, I hope to grow as a leader before I head off to college and I would like to help my community in anyway I can through this platform.

Allyson Ikeda - District 3

My name is Allyson Ikeda, and I am a sophomore at Whitney High School. During my service in PCYC, I hope to educate youth about the power they hold in the community, and how they can use it to help foster awareness of growing issues. Prior to joining PCYC, trying to advocate for something like underage drug and alcohol laws being enforced seemed like a daunting task, a journey that only adults could take; now, I know that youth can make a huge impact by simply participating in groups like PCYC, or even just talk with others about the topic. I hope that by teaching my peers about their ability to influence this community, youth can come together to voice their opinions and have a say in laws and decisions that affect our community and us.

Kristin Pischel - District 5

Hi! My name is Kristin Pischel, and I'm in my senior year at Colfax High School. This is my fourth year on the commission. I have loved chairing the Youth Impact Awards Subcommittee for the past two years, but I am very excited to start the Young Voters Initiative. I'm passionate about encouraging a youth voice and educating my peers on important current events. I'm sure the Outreach subcommittee and the entirety of the Placer County Youth Commission will be very successful this year, and I'm so excited to see how far we can go!

Mackenzie Kettwig

My name is Mackenzie Kettwig and I am a junior at Colfax High School. One of the reasons I decided to join PCYC was because I want to give back to my community, and the first way to do that is to learn about the the county’s needs and understand them so that we can take action about them. I believe in the value of education, and how important it is to educate ourselves so that we can help others to do the same. The teenagers involved in PCYC stand for something a lot bigger than themselves, in hopes that providing information to the community will allow others to benefit from it and gain access to helpful resources through us. That is something that I want to contribute to and am very proud to be apart of.

Patrick Young - District 3

My name is Patrick Young and I am a senior at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. This is my second year as a commissioner and first time as the Vice President. I aim to work with the President on expanding the roles of the other officers and improve the efficiency of the commission as a whole, whether it be through improving attendance or amending the bylaws. As a member of the Prevention Committee, my goal is to pass the Social Host Ordinance in both Loomis and Colfax, and further deter youth substance abuse through awareness campaigns.

My name is Anika Chakrabarti and I am a senior at Del Oro High School. This is my first year on the Placer County Youth Commission, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to represent youth in our community. I hope to spread awareness about youth related issues and have a voice in local policy making.

I am a senior at Granite Bay High School and this is my first term on the PCYC. I am captain of the GBHS Speech and Debate team and like to take part in fundraising and communicative initiatives. I love working with other people in cooperative goals. I am co-chair of the Education and Environmental subcommittee and look forward to the combating homelessness initiatives in the coming term.

My name is Sarah Downey and I am a Sophmore at Colfax High School. I'm very excited to be serving on the Placer County Youth Comission for my second term. I hope to continue educating, assisting and providing for our community, which has provided so much for me. Hello! I'm a junior at Lincoln High School and this is my first year serving on the youth commission. I love to paint, create videos, take photos, etc. In addition to being assistant editor for my school newspaper, I am also involved in other on-campus clubs including Interact-Key Club, National Honors Society, and Speech and Debate. Another area I am very much interested in is politics and government, and I plan to study it in my higher education. Because of this, I heavily value the impact that young people can have on their representatives, and I hope to create an initiative that will encourage and help the youth of Placer County through the voting process.

My name is Amanda Simon and I am a junior at Woodcreek High School. I am passionate about mental health and education. I want to end the stigma surrounding mental health, and more importantly, educate others about the warning signs of suicide and mental illness in order to form a better environment for the mentally ill. This year, I’m looking forward to serving in the education subcommittee, and possibly starting my own project that involves teaching speech and debate skills to younger students.
